The Hundred Language of Children |
the teacher
Teachers at Reggio Emilia inspired schools learn along with the children. Teachers establish powerful conversations with children to know their ideas, interests, ideas, dreams and impressions. They observe and listen carefully to children in order to plan future projects together.
Teachers are guides and facilitators of the children's learning process, the role of the teacher is not to instruct, but to support. They help children when problems arrive, but they dont solve the problems for them. Instead they will use children's ideas to solve a specific problem.
Teachers are researchers. As they observe children, they document such experiences using cameras, video tapes, or pen and paper. They use the information gathered during those learning experiences to reflect on the best approach to enhance children learning. Those insights will bring more questions to answer. Education in Reggio Emilia School is a dynamical ongoing process.
"It seems to me that research represents a call to a more human dimension, one that is more open to investigating the sense and meaning of things, of events, of connections and relationships, especially interhuman ones." Loris Malaguzzi
